At Geoff Jansz Farm Table Restaurant in the beautiful NSW Southern Highlands, we are looking for a Front of House professional to help bring the garden to table experience to life for our diners.
The restaurant is located in the historic Fitzroy Inn, Mittagong, in converted stables of the heritage listed Inn. The warm sandstone hues, fireplace and delicate vines creeping down the convict crafted walls are conducive to the type of atmosphere we want to create… Friendly, informal yet reflective of many time honoured traditions.
Whilst the kitchen and dining room at Mittagong is the main focus for our work, the real spirit of Geoff’s passion and his connection with food lies in his farm of over 20 years, just 15 minutes from the restaurant. Located in leafy Burradoo, the farm is one of the original land grants in the district in the early days of European settlement. With its heritage apple orchard, extensive vegetable gardens and hothouses, the farm supplies much of the organic produce served in the restaurant. There is a full production kitchen at the farm which works in tandem with the restaurant with the team spending their days tending to the farm, preparing the produce and then weaving their magic in the restaurant kitchen.
For the right person, this position offers an opportunity to live and work in the country, close to the sophisticated country town of Bowral, yet still just over an hour to Sydney. Open from Thursday to Sunday, there’s time to spare to enjoy the rural lifestyle and the many idyllic natural beauty spots around the highlands.
It is also a chance to join a dedicated small team of passionate professionals, to learn more about growing the most outstanding cool climate produce.
We are looking for someone with:
- demonstrable skills in front of house management
- dedication to professional service in fine dining
- extensive food and wine knowledge
- ability to work within and lead a small team of similarly passionate food and dining enthusiasts
- excellent communication skills
- a keen eye for detail in the areas of food and front of house style
The full time position entails 5 service shifts and one day of setup, Wednesday to Sunday. Annual leave is by arrangement to coordinate with the restaurant closure in January. The position is Assistant Front of House Manager, in coordination with Geoff and Front of House Manager. It is not a trainee position however there are prospects for career advancement.
If you think you’d like to be part of the team, please email your CV and a letter outlining why you think this is the position for you and what you could contribute to the team to Geoff Jansz, office@geoffjansz.com.au
